Message from the President

Welcome to the Age Anaesthesia Association 2012 Meeting website. The aim of these annual scientific meetings is to educate as well as to provoke debate on how to provide good care for this vulnerable group of patients.

The NCEPOD report published in 2010 has demonstrated that only about a third of the over 80’s received good care so there is much room for improvement. To rise to the challenge, this year’s AAA meeting programme has topics ranging from how to deal with acute medical insults in the perioperative period to ethical challenges in the older person and much, much more. Please have a look at the programme and see for yourself!!

I hope that you can join us for this meeting which has something for everyone whether you are an anaesthetist, physician, surgeon or allied health professional. After all, the most important factor in achieving good care for these patients is good communication and teamwork amongst all healthcare providers.
