It is a pleasure to launch the Age Anaesthesia sister website devoted exclusively
to the Annual Scientific Meeting in Manchester on 14th & 15th May this year.
A lot of work has been put in by the organising committee to produce a programme
which will appeal to all those caring for the elderly patient. As well as hosting
the annual meetings of the Laparotomy and Hip Fracture Networks, there should be
plenty to interest anaesthetists, geriatricians, medical students and professions
allied to medicine.
Do you know the latest advice regarding bone cement? Do you know how to prepare for a visit
to HM Coroner? How would you begin to set up an orthogeriatrics service? How should
you manage a patient with Parkinson's Disease perioperatively? These, and many other
topical issues will be dealt with over the course of our two days in Manchester.
The conference venue and the annual dinner have been carefully selected to suit
all delegates, whether they are new to the city or not.
Please take time to study the programme and publicise the meeting to your colleagues.
Don’t forget about our famous Free Paper Prizes and the traditional debate.
On behalf of the AAA Council and the local organising committee, I look forward
to seeing you in Manchester in May.
Dr MWB Allan
